Day 1        MALAGA / FUENGIROLA

v               Greeting and transfer to Fuengirola.

 

 

 

The town of Fuengirola, cosmopolitan and popular tourist resort, is a favourite location among the visitors of the area, for whom the town is relaxing, leisurely and offers an excellent climate. The former fishing village developed through tourism and a new urban landscape blends with the traditional buildings in the most typical streets. It has one of the largest sea promenades in Spain.

Day 2        FUENGIROLA / MARBELLA / RONDA / JEREZ / SEVILLE

v               Departure to Ronda, with short stop to visit Marbella.

 

 

v               AM guided tour of Ronda: Santa María, Don Bosco House and Bullring.

 

 

 

Cuadro de texto: Ronda is one of the most ancient cities in Spain, centre of the mountain range which bears its name. An impressive sheer cleft of over 300 ft. called El Tajo splits the town, dividing the old part from the new one. We will visit the Church of Santa María, formerly the Mosque, with Gothic and Renaissance architecture, Plateresque altarpiece and choir stalls and Hispano-Moslem tower. Then we will do a tour of the old town, rich in places of interest, palaces and convents. Our tour will end with a visit of the bullring, built in 1784, totally of stone, which is considered to be the oldest in Spain, and where Pedro Romero, the famous bullfighter, set up the rules of bullfighting on foot which are still respected nowadays.

v               Continuation to Jerez through the Route of the White Villages.

 

 

Jerez will delight you as a big town and as a village with its vineyards and the nearness of the mountain range and the sea. Considered as the wine and horse capital and cradle of flamenco, it possesses wonderful and exclusive tourist resources. Wine and "bodegas" (wine-cellars), the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, the Bull-fighting Art Museum, the Clock Museum, the Zoo, the Congress Palace and the eldest area of the city are declared Artistic-historic area.

v               Afternoon at leisure with motor coach at disposal for transfers to the city centre.

 

 

Cuadro de texto: Our visit will start with a panoramic tour of the some of the highlights in the city: The Cartuja Island, where Expo '92 was held, the Guadalquivir river, the Tower of Gold, the Bullring La Maestranza, the old Tobacco Factory (now University),  María Luisa Park, with the pavilions built for the Exhibition held in 1929 and the monumental Plaza de España and Plaza de América. Visit of the Gothic Cathedral, the largest in Spain, with the Giralda tower (striking minaret of the former mosque). Day 4        SEVILLE / CARMONA / CORDOVA

v               Departure to Cordova with stop in Carmona for individual visit of this monumental town.

 

A city of Neolithic origins which was also an important Roman crossroads. Moorish gateways and walls and an Alcázar that has been turned into a Parador. The most remarkable Roman monument, unique of its kind here, is the necropolis or Roman burial ground.

The Aljama Mosque is one of the most emblematic buildings of Islamic art, whose construction was initiated by Abderramán I in the 8th century. It has a remarkable columns forest and a sumptuous "mihrab". Then a walk on the Jewish Quarter, with its fresh narrow streets and Andalusian "patios", where we will find the only Synagogue preserved in Andalusia.

Day 5        CORDOVA / UBEDA / BAEZA / GRANADA

v               Departure to Ubeda and Baeza and guided tour of both artistic jewels.

 

Ubeda was declared a Historical and Artistic City in 1955 and an "Exemplary City" by the Council of Europe in 1975. In 17th century the city reached its maximum splendour, provided by the economic incomes in the cereal crop, cattle raising and even a notable artisan activity. The construction initiative of the high clergy and the lesser nobles would process the city in one of the more sumptuous ones of the Renaissance. Numerous works, not only of the church, but also of the Messrs landowners and the very council, please of palaces and aristocratic houses to the city and reliable tests of a new concept of town planning even appear that mark since then the urban fisonomy. Baeza was declared a "Historical-Artistic city" in 1966 and a "Model City of the Renaissance", by the Council of Europe, in 1975. Currently, besides Ubeda, the file for its declaration as World Heritage Site is being processed by UNESCO.

A visit to this complex of halls and "patios" courtyards of indescribable beauty will evoke the splendour of the Arabic past of the city. In the Generalife, leisure place for the Nazarid kings, we will enjoy the fresh and relaxing atmosphere of this enchanting place and let our senses get impregnated with the perfume and colour of its flowers and the murmuring of its fountains.

Nerja is a small town built on a peak where the landscape is wonderful. From the Europe Balcony, you will have an exceptional overview on mountains and on the sea. With its fisher's quarter and beautiful beaches, Nerja is also famous for its caves discovered in 1959 which are one of the most beautiful in the world. They have amazing stalagmite and stalactite structures especially their huge column in the 32 m height cataclysm room..

Described by Vicente Aleixandre as the City of Paradise, Malaga enjoys one of the best climates in the European continent. The visitor can stroll in the gardens and enjoy the view of the city, the port and the distant mountain ranges. Our tour will include the most emblematic corners of the city, such us Larios street, Pasaje de Chinitas, Plaza de la Merced (where Picasso was born), the Renaissance Cathedral, the Alcazaba (Muslim castle), Town hall, the Bullring and the Park.
