The Almenara golf course was designed by Dave Thomas and was opened in April 1998. Due to its spectacular landscape, the first eighteen holes have already been described as the designer's best work to date. Another nine holes have been constructed and have been open since autumn 2000. There are splendid views to the south, over the Sotogrande complex and the San Roque Club. The fairways and tee areas are of Bermuda, grass and the course is a 72 par.
The main Clubhouse area is part of the Hotel Almenara complex and first opened in September 1999 with an elegant Andalousian style design and decor.
